Grandma's Copycat Biscuits
I'm on a journey to find the *the* biscuit recipe I remember as a kid. Today let's make Grandma's Copycat Biscuits with a hack to make your own buttermilk!

- 5 Cups Self Rising Flour
- 1 Cup Crisco
- 2 Cups Buttermilk To make your own Buttermilk: mix together 1 milk and 1/2 teaspoon of Vinegar. Let sit for 5 minutes.
- 1 Tsp Sugar
- 1 Envelope Dry Fleschman's Yeast
- 1/4 Cup Hot Water
Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees.
Activate the envelope of yeast by dissolving it together with 1/4 cup hot water and 1 teaspoon sugar.
In a separate bowl mix flour and Crisco together. This will be like course meal. Add the melted yeast and 2 cups of Buttermilk and mix together.
Roll the dough out on a floured board. Lightly flour the biscuit cutter and cut the dough into circles. If you don't have a biscuit cutter, use a cup to cut the dough.
Bake the biscuits at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes until golden brown on the top.
- 1 Batch makes approximately 28 biscuits
- You can also freeze these biscuits. To reheat: Wrap in foil and bake at 350 degrees.
