Summer is here and that can only mean one thing: outdoor entertaining! Fire up the grill this weekend and make this homemade Sriracha Peach BBQ Sauce to kick off the summer.
A couple of sweet friends sent me a delicious box of fresh, Georgia peaches last week! I had a few very ripe peaches left and decided to create a barbecue sauce with them. So Sriracha Peach BBQ Sauce was born. Around here, spicy food is life and I’d probably add even more Sriracha next time.
Serve with Chicken or Pork
This barbecue sauce would be delicious served with grilled chicken, a pork tenderloin or even pork chops! You can shred the meat and turn it into barbecue sandwiches! I’ve been eating shredded chicken sandwiches with Sriracha Peach BBQ Sauce all week long. Mmmmm Mmm Mmmm! Delicious!
Sriracha Peach BBQ Sauce Ingredients
If you follow me on Instagram, you probably know I rarely visit the grocery store while Mr. Sweet Southern Oaks is away with the military. I created this Sriracha Peach BBQ Sauce using a few pantry staples. That’s always a win in my book. Just a few ingredients and spices were all it took to create an out of this world, homemade barbecue sauce. Using ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, Sriracha, vinegar and a handful of spices. If you have an onion, you can throw that in there, too. Since I didn’t have one, I left it out of the recipe.
Do I Really Need to Add the Sriracha Sauce?
If you’re not a fan of spicy food, leave it out or only put in a squirt or two of the hot sauce. I think the Sriracha totally makes the sauce, but that’s just me! If you don’t have Sriracha sauce in your fridge just use another kind of hot sauce. Or a pinch or two of Red Pepper Flakes or Cayenne Pepper will do, too.
It is peach season after all, so now is the best time to try this Sriracha Peach BBQ Sauce at your next cookout! I’m sure your guests will thank you – and they’ll think you’re just peachy for making this for them! See what I did there?!
Sriracha Peach BBQ Sauce
Ingredients
- 3-4 Peaches, peeled and chopped
- 1 cup Ketchup
- 1/3 cup Brown Sugar
- 4 oz Tomato Paste
- 5-6 tbsp Sriracha Sauce Use more for a spicier sauce, or less for a milder sauce
- 1 tbsp Olive Oil
- 2 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
- 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tbsp Chili Powder
- 1/2 tbsp Cumin
- 1/4 tsp Onion Powder
- Salt and Pepper to Taste
Instructions
- Wash, peel and chop your peaches.
- Meanwhile, heat olive olive oil over medium high heat in a medium sauce pan. Add the peaches and cook for one to two minutes.
- Add in the spices: Cumin, Chili Powder, Garlic Powder and Onion Powder.
- Stir in the ketchup, tomate paste, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce and Sriracha. Add salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a boil.
- Turn the heat down to low and let the sauce simmer for ten more minutes and thicken. *
- Use the sauce on BBQ pulled pork sandwiches or chicken sandwiches. Enjoy!
Notes
- This sauce is a little chunky with a thicker consistency from the peaches and tomato paste, but I prefer it that way. If you would like a thinner sauce: transfer the sauce to a blender or food processor and blend together.
