Currently pretending that I live in a beach house full of coastal charm! I might be many, many miles away from the coast – but that doesn’t mean I can’t turn my home into a peaceful, coastal retreat! This coastal home decor theme is the perfect way to kick off the summer fun!
Coastal Home Decor Color Palette
When decorating, I always decide on a color palette first. This helps the theme be cohesive throughout the decor in my home. The color palette for the coastal home decor is inspired by the ocean itself! Cool colors such as soft blues, dusty gray, deep navy and pops of aqua all make me think of the ocean.
Breezy Coastal Summer Tablescape
The coastal tablescape is so peaceful and serene. The table features blue plates with pops of aqua for a peaceful table setting! To start off the table I used nautical netting as a nod to the sand. Next, the jute placemats add texture and a warm, natural element against the pops of blue.
The gold charger adds an additional layer and a little shimmer to the coastal tablescape. Then I used blue plates and linens to finish off each table setting. Of course we had to add some shells to the coastal tablescape to bring the theme to life! I placed a sand dollar on top of each place setting.
With any tablescape, you have to include a beautiful centerpiece! I chose a white vase for the centerpiece, which is a nice contrast with all the blue. I used blue and white faux flowers to fill the vase and nestled little starfish into the arrangement. Finally, the aqua jars with shells nestled around the arrangement completes the table.

Coastal Chic Home Decor
In the living room, the coastal chic theme focused on the mantel decor. I used this beautiful antique stained glass window as the anchor piece. You’ve seen this before on the mantel, but the blues of the stained glass really made the rest of the decor pop!
I used a variety of faux flowers in blues, navy, and gray. I wanted the flowers to resemble the waves crashing into the shore. Vintage blue books helped to add height on either side of the mantel. On top of the books are aqaua bottles and were used to resemble sea glass. When the light hits the aqua bottles it looks like the water sparkling from the sun! Finally, I arranged sea shells into the flowers and against the aqua bottles to complete the coastal theme.

And that’s how this coastal chic home decor theme came to life! I’ve never done a coastal theme in my home before, but I have to say that this is one of my favorite designs. I’ll be sad to take this down, but it’s time to get ready for the 4th! Stay tuned because there is summer decor and patriotic home decor coming your way very soon!
