St. Patrick’s Day is the perfect time to infuse color and charm into your home. 🍀And what better way to do that then to create a colorful, vibrant rainbow mantel. 🌈I wanted to create something special on the mantel as we welcome in spring – and I knew a colorful rainbow mantel would do just that! 🌈
The Anchor Piece
To start off the mantel design, I used this large antique gold mirror that I found at The World’s Longest Yard Sale several years ago. This golden frame was actually a DIY and I love using it within the decor because it’s so versatile. The gold frame adds the perfect touch – because there’s always a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! So of course we need to have a little gold accent within the rainbow mantel.
The Base Layer
Since it is a St. Patrick’s Day mantel after all, it made since to have a little green as the foundation of this design. The flowy green garland adds softness and movement to the design. I used some Command Hooks to help hold the greenery in place. At this point I think that the Command Hook people should just sponsor me because I’m always using and sharing their products! 😉
Adding the Rainbow Florals
Now this is where the fun part came in because it was time to create our rainbow! I used a variety of flowers in the traditional rainbow colors to create this look. I decorate a lot so I already had all of the flowers. You could shop your house and see what you have to create a similar look. Or the dollar store has flowers that would be great to use, too!
I started on the far left hand side of the mantel to add in the red flowers. Then I went to the far right side of the mantel to add in the purple flowers. I really did this to help balance the mantel out on either side and make sure I had room for all the colors on the rainbow mantel. Some of the flowers are nestled into the greenery, while other florals were placed more prominently to create balance and add height throughout the design. By using a variety of flowers it adds interest and dimension to the design.
If you wanted to add a little more sparkle, you could add some fairy lights or pops of gold here! ✨Ooh maybe I should some lights to my rainbow mantel! The possibilities are endless!
Rainbow Mantel Design
I love how rich and full this mantel feels and it makes me happy to see all the beautiful colors of the rainbow on this design. This rainbow mantel feels sophisticated, yet so vibrant and it’s the perfect way to ring in Spring. I don’t normally decorate for St. Patrick’s Day because most of the decor for it feels like party decor. However, this vibrant rainbow mantel shows that with a little imagination, you can still have an elegant and sophisticated look for St. Patrick’s Day!
