Welcome, friends! Grab a pumpkin spice latte and join me for a 2024 Halloween Home Tour… or dare I say a HAUNTED Halloween Home Tour! 👻
I’m kidding! I don’t think this house is actually haunted…but I’m pretty sure the home we lived in when we first got married actually was haunted. 👻 I’d be home alone and hear weird sounds and sometimes items had been moved around. Other times I’d feel a chill in the air and feel like someone or something was watching me. Then of course my cat, Louella Mae, she’d sit and stare in certain spots and make these weird meow sounds that I had never heard her make before. Louella Mae would have wild eyes and her tail would be all puffed up – I’d come and check on her and feel a presence and Louella Mae would be scared. I promise y’all… that house was definitely haunted. But we didn’t stick around long enough to get any more creepy stories than that!
Anywho… back to the Halloween Home Tour…
For the Halloween decor this year, I wanted it to feel spooky yet elegant – and definitely NOT scary! Spooky + Elegant = SPELEGANT! Is that a word?! Well, we’re going to make it be a word.
The vintage gold mirror, classic pumpkins, florals and vintage pieces around the house helped to keep an elegant and timeless feel in the Halloween decor. Adding layers of gauze fabric, skulls and pops of dark colors added the perfect spooky touch into the decor.
Halloween Living Room Decor:
For the mantle, the vintage gold mirror was the base and I built the design around that. Layering the gauze fabric added texture and color into the design. I spray painted dollar store leaves black and used purple flowers to soften the mantle and achieve that elegant look. Of course the skulls and candelabras on either side of the mantel added a dark, spooky factor.
Rae Dunn Halloween Tablescape:
In place of a traditional tablecloth I used layers of gauze fabric on the table as well. Classic black dishes were added to the table to keep a spooky, yet traditional look. I only had two Rae Dunn Halloween witch plates, so to offset the other place settings I added black bowls for an additional layer of the table.
For the centerpiece, I used a cake stand to create height and added a pumpkin topiary on top. Then I built around the centerpiece with black lanterns and flowers to add dimension and interest. How cute are the mini black cauldrons?! I added some Poly-Fil that you would use to stuff a pillow with inside of each cauldron. It adds interest to the place setting, along with texture.
Classic Halloween Kitchen:
I kept a lot of the fall decor up in the kitchen and added a few Halloween pieces. There was not a lot to decorate in here, but I think the space turned out cute! The antique copper canisters are special because they belonged to my Memaw and I remember her cooking and baking with them! 🧡
Spooky Halloween Porch Decor:
Our front porch is ready for trick-or-treaters! We forged a branch from the back yard and that is the star of the porch. I got bats and leaf garlands from the dollar store and spray painted them black on all sides. To hang the bats onto the branch I used fishing line. I love that it looks like the bats are flying in the wind!
Over the front door, I spray painted some Christmas tree garlands black and attached the garlands to nails that are around the door. To make the skull picks: I used the sharp part of a kebab skewer and shoved that into the back of each skull. You might have to use a little strength, but it’s easy to create. I used zip ties to hold the skull picks in place – wrap the zip tie around both the skewer and the garland and pull it tight.
