This simple winter mantel only took a few minutes to put together and it brightened the living room right up for the season!
The house has had all the festive decorations up through the holiday season, and then when you take down all the Christmas decor the house feels bare! But in the winter months, a little simplicity is perfect!
When taking down all the Christmas decor, you can keep out a few things. Cozy blankets, winter greenery and warm whites make the perfect winter decor. I always keep out this white village of houses because it can easily transition into cozy winter decor.
For my cozy winter decor I keep it simple and kind of go for a more minimalistic vibe. A few textures help pull the winter decor together and feel cozy.
Tips for Decorating a Mantel
Anchor: When decorating a mantel, the first thing to start out with is your anchor piece. A large sign, a mirror or an interesting architectural piece would all work for your anchor piece. This is going to be the focal piece of the mantel.
Decor Pieces: For this mantel, I used the village of houses. To keep it symmetrical, I added the same amount of houses on each side. Decorating in groups of three is draws the eye in.
Filler: The winter greenery and lights are the filler pieces for this mantel.
Putting Together a Simple Winter Mantel
This antique gold mirror is the anchor piece for the mantel. A pop of metallic like gold or silver looks really pretty with warm winter whites. On each side of the mirror, the white houses are added for a whimsical winter feel. Next, some sprigs of winter greenery help to add texture and visual interest. The greenery is actually leftover from my Christmas mantel. Finally, I can’t let go of the lights just yet, so I pulled out some fairy lights to place on the mantel for a little twinkle. You can never go wrong with a little twinkle!
