Cheesy. Meaty. Salty. Sweet. All the tastes of deliciousness that a charcuterie board should be! This festive New Year’s Eve charcuterie board is a fun idea to ring in the new year!
We will be staying in for NYE and let’s get real: we’ll probably be celebrating in our pajamas. I don’t even know if we will stay up to see the ball drop…but I guess we will, because all the neighbors will be popping firecrackers. We use to get all dressed up and celebrate the night out on the town with friends. But we haven’t done that in a couple of years as they’ve all become parents. Life changes.
And honestly, with us going through infertility, sometimes celebrating days like NYE is hard. I mean, another year has come and gone and we still don’t have a baby.
But anywho… I’m happy to stay home together in our jammies. Just us and Lila Blue – and who doesn’t want a midnight kiss from the best pup in the land anyway.
So to ring in 2022, I thought a New Year’s Eve charcuterie board would be really fun and festive to create. Right after this photo shoot, we will be sure to snack on the charcuterie board. And maybe we will have leftovers for the big day.
Deciding on the New Year’s Eve Charcuterie Board Foods
For the New Year’s Eve charcuterie board, I gathered a lot of different foods we already had at the house. I did send the hubby to pick up some grapes and crackers for the charcuterie. You want to have a variety of foods and assortment of goodies to satisfy all of your guests’ tummies. You’ll be snacking all night as it’s time to countdown to the new year. So why not have a little bit of everything on the board?!
What’s on our Charcuterie Board
- A variety of cheeses: Pepper Jack, Cubed Monterey Jack and Smoked Cheddar Cheese is what I had on hand
- Crackers: I used crackers with fun shapes and pita chips
- Prosciutto: I folded a few slices and threaded it with a toothpick to make it look visually appealing
- Red Grapes
- Nuts: Almonds, Peanuts, Cashews
- Dried Cranberries
- Assortment of Cookies and Candies: I used leftover peppermint cookies, salted caramel truffles and peppermint bark
Putting Together the Charcuterie Board
For the New Year’s Eve charcuterie board, I used a large cutting board. I started out with the prosciutto. To make it visually appealing, I took about 3 slices and folded the meat every other way and then used a toothpick to secure the prosciutto. There’s no right or wrong way to make a charcuterie board – just fill it with food and make it look yummy!
Next, I laid out the crackers into two places of the board. These crackers kind of reminded me of stars and I thought they would be festive. Then I laid out the pita chips. After that, it was time for the cheeses. I placed the cheese close to the crackers. From there, I added the grapes. I think that keeping the grapes on the vine adds some texture, plus it kept them from rolling around everywhere! Then it was time to add the sweets. The peppermint bark and salted caramel truffles helped to cover up some bare spots of the board and make it look full. Plus, you can’t have a NYE party without some kind of sweet treats!
After that, the nuts and the dried cranberries were added to cover any bare spots.
Dig in and have some treats from this festive and delicious New Year’s Eve charcuterie board!
