The Christmas season sure did fly by. With my hysteroscopy surgery and recovery, I ended up being behind on all the things leading up to Christmas! I already had written this post, photographed and edited the photos of our house at Christmas – but I had so much to do getting ready for the big day I forgot to post this blog! 🤦♀️ So in the spirit of wishing it was still Christmas, I’m sharing this after Christmas home tour to enjoy before it all comes down. Grab a cup of hot chocolate and cozy up by the fire for a 2021 Christmas home tour!
This year, I was inspired by poinsettias for my Christmas decor. Poinsettias are sprinkled throughout the Christmas decor in the living room and dining room. I just love the timeless, classic look of poinsettias at Christmas!
Living Room
I love how the living room kind of has a classic vintage Christmas look. The mantel has a very special meaning behind it with the poinsettias.
Family Christmas Tree
Each year we support the local Boy Scouts by buying our Christmas tree from them. We bought our tree a little later than usual, so the tree is smaller. But that’s ok because we’re trying to save money for IVF anyway. Our family Christmas tree is filled with memories! From an ornament we bought the day we got engaged, to memories of our wedding and memories from years past. We have ornaments from places we have traveled and deployments that my husband has been to.
Precious ornaments of beloved pets that have crossed the Rainbow Bridge and memories of Lila Blue are also on the tree. We even have a toilet paper ornament to remember the year that was 2020. 🤣 And then we have an ornament of hope to remember the year our infertility story started. This isn’t a tree that would ever grace the cover of a magazine, but it’s a tree that is special and meaningful to us.
Dining Room
The next stop on this 2021 Christmas home tour is the dining room. I kept the dining room tablescape pretty simple this year. The poinsettias Christmas theme is going strong in the dining room, too. This poinsettia tablecloth supposedly was my Great Grandma Pearla’s that she eventually gave to my Memaw. Now, the tablecloth is mine and I place it on the dining room table each year to remember her.
The bouquet of poinsettias were also my Memaw’s. I placed the poinsettias in this reindeer bowl that Jon and I bought at an antique store when we were engaged. Next, I added some greenery by using Christmas tree clippings into the flower arrangement.
Then I used a wreath to be the charger and the start of the place setting. On top of the wreath I added another charger – I found these at the Target dollar spot several seasons ago! How cute are they?!
Kitchen
Just a few Christmas touches in the kitchen this year. Mainly, the Rae Dunn Christmas cannisters are in the kitchen. Then a few sprinkles of gingerbread cheer are added in to for extra holiday cheer.
Porch
The Christmas porch was all put together by the hubby! Some Christmas garlands and lights bring the holiday glow. I just love the greenery around all the windows. One day, I want to have lights around each of the windows, too! Then these cute retro Christmas Noel candles were a find from The World’s Longest Yard Sale! We need to get them rewired because they did not work this year, but they sure are festive on each side of the door!
Bedroom
I kept it simple in our room this year. Just a wreath and a tiny Christmas tree is all the decor in our room. But Lila Blue and I sure do think it’s cozy!
That’s our 2021 Christmas home tour! Thanks for stopping by for a festive home tour! I hope you had a wonderful week of holiday cheer and spending time with those you love this Christmas week.
