Big pumpkins, small pumpkins. White pumpkins, orange, pink and green. Fat, round pumpkins and tall pumpkins, warty ones, too. I never met a pumpkin I didn’t like. Pumpkin- Palooza is happening!! Every year we buy all our pumpkins from local businesses and farmers in our area. Here are five Alabama pumpkin pickin’ places to visit this fall season around the Birmingham area. Grab a pumpkin spice latte and let’s head out for some pumpkin pickin’!
Mr. Sweet Southern Oaks and I got up early on Saturday for our annual fall tradition – Pumpkin-Palooza. Each year we go buy tons of pumpkins and get a PSL to celebrate fall’s arrival. Shopping local and supporting our community is so important. Small businesses got hit hard this year, so doing our part and supporting them is more important than ever! So for Pumpkin-Palooza this year, we supported even more local businesses and bought all the pumpkins.

- Old Baker Farm is a true pumpkin patch and the one you cannot miss this fall! Admission to the pumpkin patch is ten dollars and includes a pumpkin. You will take a hayride to the pumpkin patch and there you can walk around until you find your favorite pumpkin in the patch. The pumpkins are still growing on the vine, so you will need a knife to cut it off the vine. Of course their friendly staff will be available to help if you need it. At the pumpkin patch they have the traditional orange pumpkins, white pumpkins, fairytale pumpkins, big and little ones too! The farm also has a corn maze, petting zoo with the farm animals and a mini train ride for the kiddos. This is a working farm, so I would recommend for you to wear boots and sunscreen to the pumpkin patch. Check out a blog post I wrote several years ago about our adventure at Old Baker Farm. Going to Old Baker Farm to pick a pumpkin has become a fall family tradition we look forward to each year.
