I’m not sure where September went, but the month went by so fast! The Fall season is upon us and I’m here for it. It may be hot in Alabama still, but I’ve had my Pumpkin Spice Latte, bought the pumpkins and suddenly I was in the Fall spirit. Fall has arrived at the Sweet Southern Oaks household! Today let’s put together a Boho Inspired Fall Mantel.
We have another blogger, Jessica Simmons joining us, so make sure you stop by and checkout her blog! Jessica loves to thrift and has so many awesome and affordable DIYs. She’s really creative and I know you’re going to love her! We’re also happy to have Shanna blog hopping with us again this month!
So let’s get started on putting together this Boho Inspired Fall Mantel. Usually the first thing that gets re-decorated around the house is the mantel. I just love to switch it up for the seasons and get the itch to switch it out often. That makes great news for y’all because I love to share these ideas with you and hope you find lots of inspiration!
This fall I’m really into the Boho vibes and I’m finding myself drawn to this style more and more! Hummm perhaps Boho Farmhouse is a thing? Because I feel like that’s where this fall mantel and even my decor style is changing to.
What does Boho Mean?
Boho, short for Bohemian, is basically one of those styles that never actually goes out of style. Originally the term Bohemian referred to a group of people that traveled from an area in the Czech Republic called Bohemia. Later the term would refer to a group of free spirits such as artists with a nomadic lifestyle. This way of life eventually influenced the hibby vibes from the 1960-1970s. Fast forward to 2020 and the influences from the past is back with an eclectic, modern Boho style. Lots of bold colors and patterns, vintage pieces and natural textures are key to the modern Boho style.
Putting Together the Boho Inspired Fall Mantel:
This Boho inspired fall mantel is a curated mix of old and new pieces. All of the amber bottles are all thrifted and yard sale finds. The pumpkin sign and the pampas grass are all from Hobby Lobby. That cute vintage crock in the middle of the table is also thrifted! The coffee table is actually an old industrial cart that we found at The World’s Longest Yard Sale several years ago.
For the mantel, the pumpkin sign is the focal/ anchor piece and I found it at Hobby Lobby this year. The mini pumpkins and amber bottles on either side of the mantel are my fillers – they fill in the blank spaces. To add a little height, the pampas grass is placed in some of the amber bottles.
Then of course since it’s Fall, y’all, we have to bring on allllll the pumpkins!! These pumpkins are just the first haul of the season and soon this space will turn into a real pumpkin patch. I may have a slight obsession for pumpkins. Pumpkin love, actually. Each year we support the local farmers and pick the best pumpkins at the local farmers markets and small nurseries. Which this year, I think I’ll actually buy even *more pumpkins*. You know, so we can support the local farmers and small businesses all around our area! Shopping local and supporting our farmers is so important right now so they can stay in business and provide for their families. The small businesses need our support – so I’mma buy all the pumpkins!
So that’s it for my Boho Inspired Fall Mantel.. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to decorate. This room is a curated look put together over time with a mix of thrifted and yard sale finds. Happy Fall, Y’all!
