Hello, friends and happy March! January seemed to go by so slow and February flew by so fast. Here in Alabama it’s been a dreary winter full of rain and cold weather. Spring is near though because I have flowers popping up in my backyard! With the new season of Spring, I feel refreshed and I like for my home to reflect the new season. For me, a deep cleaning and a refresh around the house with decor always means Spring has sprung. To start the new season off, I did a little spring bedroom refresh in our room, so now I’m ready to take on the rest of the house.
I’m blog hoppin’ with my friends Jackie and Liz and we’re sharing home decor ideas for decorating a bedroom.
Spring is the season of new beginnings – where flowers and trees are blooming and everything comes back to life. When nature shows us just how beautiful our surroundings really are. Bring the outside in and decorate your home with fresh blooms this Spring. For your convenience, this post may contain affiliate links at no extra cost to you. Read my full disclosure policy here. Spring Bedroom Refresh – Clean and Organize
For any room refresh, it’s the perfect time to clean and organize the space. So thanks to this Spring bedroom refresh, I’m sure Mr. Sweet Southern Oaks was glad I finally put my clean laundry away. 😉 This little corner kind of becomes my catch all space when I’ve got lots going on. The closet needs to be cleaned out too – but that’s a whole other beast of a project in itself! Besides my clean laundry and the hubby’s books, there wasn’t too much to organize.
After the room was organized a little more it was time for a deep cleaning. We dusted everything and wiped down the blinds, the room got a good vacuuming and I washed the bedspread. Lila Blue sleeps with us every night and y’all know how much hair she has . 😉 So it was time for our room to get a good Spring cleaning!
Spring Bedroom Refresh – Decorate
Then came the fun part – decorating! When I think about decorating for spring, I picture lots of flowers and soft colors.
My favorite part of our room is the headboard made of vintage doors. These vintage doors we turned into a headboard were used as the altar at our wedding and they are a reminder of the commitment we made to each other six years ago. I have a fun DIY coming soon that I plan on putting on the vintage doors for Spring. For now, I displayed these vintage flower prints that I picked up last year at an antique store. I used Command Hooks to hang the pictures up – I don’t want to put a nail in those doors. To add another spring touch, I draped this garland of pink flowers along the headboard. Simple, pretty and flowery.
The nightstands have a few pictures of us and a jar with some flowers on my side.
Decorate with Items You Already Have
With that, the Spring bedroom refresh is complete. Our bedroom feels so fresh and clean and I love the Spring decor added. I didn’t buy anything new – I just shopped around my house and used items I already owned. A simple idea to decorate for Spring is to clip some flowers or greenery from your yard to put it in a vase. Maybe you have some faux florals or greenery from your local craft store that you can add into a Spring vignette. Look around your home and gather items that inspire you to put together something beautiful. I promise once you start looking, you’re going to find something beautiful to create!
Shop the Look
I’m working on getting a link for you guys on the ruffled quilt and shams to add here soon – which are from Stein Mart. They are by Oscar & Grace “Lyla” Ruffled Quilt and Ruffled Shams. You know I’m always honest with you, so the quilt doesn’t look anything like I thought it would from the package picture at the store {because the package picture was fully ruffled!}. What you see in these photos are an accurate picture with less ruffle. However, the quilt is lightweight and I think the minimal ruffles are perfect since Lila Blue sleeps with us every night. We have a Queen bed, and the ruffled quilt you see in the pictures is a KING size – so definitely size up if you buy this quilt.

I absolutely love the door idea! My sister did something similar with the doors from her wedding; made them into a dining table! It’s such a lovely way to show off a momento from your special day!

Just amazing what a good cleaning can do! Your bedroom is beautiful and cozy. Those vintage doors are amazing and are so sweet to have been used at your wedding. I love that quilt on the bed- I also go for a king size for my bed. It’s a great tip for a full look.

I wish I could say it was still this clean! Apparently I don’t like putting clean laundry up! I’ve got to add cleaning the room again to my weekend to-do list! 🙂

Miss Lila Blue looks right at home in your bed! She’s too cute! I’m all about shopping my house for updates too – love how this came out!

Haha! Lila Blue definitely makes herself right at home there every night! I’m like, Lila, you’ve got to move over so I can get in the bed! 🙂
