Let’s set the table with a dainty Valentine’s Day Tablescape.
January seemed to go by so00000 very slow, and I’m excited that we are now in the second month of the Roaring 20s. With that said, Valentine’s Day is near and this year Mr. Sweet Southern Oaks will actually be home for the occasion. Last year he was at a training school and had Chick-Fil-A deliver the 30 count heart shaped platter of nuggets to my my work! Then I binge watched “Gilmore Girls” with the fur babies when I got home. This year he can bring me the heart shaped platter of nuggets to me in person… because that’s what this girl really wants for Valentine’s Day! 😉
I love to decorate the dining room table for holidays with tablescapes. Because let’s get real, if it doesn’t get decorated, it becomes another catch all pile at our house! This Valentine’s Day tablescape uses dishes and linens that I already had, the only thing I bought were the flowers. Hubby had found the heart shaped Rae Dunn plates a few weeks ago for me, so that’s my early Valentine gift.
Something about pink, red and aqua blue makes for a beautiful and unexpected color combo that totally works. That’s the color combo for this Valentine’s Day tablescape.
Linens
I kept the linens simple with a white tablecloth and white napkins with a touch of silver in them. We will add color with the plates and flowers, so a simple base is perfect for this particular tablescape.
Valentine’s Day Tablescape Plates
These galvanized chargers seemed dainty for the tablescape because of the scallop edges. The aqua blue plates are our everyday plates from the Pioneer Woman line and I placed them on top of the chargers. The white napkin is folded in thirds and I placed it on top of the plate.
Next, the Rae Dunn heart shape plates are placed on top of the napkins, adding the cutest Valentine touch! The festive heart shaped plates say “Love” in red letters and “Be Mine” in black letters.
The Rule of Thirds
When it comes to groupings, use the rule of thirds. An odd number of things is more visually appealing to the eye and adds more emphasis to a space. The vases were a DIY with thrifted vases and pink carnations add the perfect pop of color. Brass candlesticks are placed into the middle of the tablescape. Afterall, it is a Valentine’s Day tablescape, so candles are a must! Finally, I scattered red hearts around each grouping for another pop of color.

I love this tablescape- the white linens and blue plates balance the reds and pinks. And of course the DIY gold vases are awesome! I love a good spray paint project. I also love a good nugget- I knew we were friends for a reason 😉
