Hello, friends and welcome to The Roaring ’20s. Well, the 2.0 version of that! A new year, a new decade, a new start. While many people make a resolution, I choose a word of the year. A word that represents and sets the tone for the year.
I’ve picked a word of the year since college and each one truly becomes ingrained into my life somehow. I’ve shared a few other words of the year with you – read about my words of the year for 2018 and 2019. This word is one that has been tugging at me for awhile. In fact, back in the fall, I talked to my Daddio and the hubby about how this particular word may be the one, but I wasn’t sure.
It wasn’t until New Year’s Eve, after my precious grandmother’s funeral, I knew for sure that intentional would be my 2020 word of the year.
Intentional
Adjective [ in-ten-shuh-nl ]
1: done with intention or on purpose; intended:
2: of or relating to intention or purpose.
Intentional Marriage
To be intentional in our marriage. That means getting back to regular date nights to spend quality time together. Making time to just connect with one another, check-in and openly communicate about what’s going on. Supporting each other’s dreams and working together to make them happen. Lately life has been hard, and Mr. Sweet Southern Oaks has been texting me daily Bible verses that he knows will help. He does this with intention, to help me during a painful season of life.
Intentional Friend
To be more intentional with my friendships and invest even more with the people who challenge and encourage me. Being an intentional friend makes you a better friend. I want friends that show up not just for the celebrations and success, but the ones that show up for the hard stuff. When life happens, I’ll be there with the cookie dough, movies and your favorite snack ready to cry along with you.
I even want to be more intentional with the blog – to share more content with you and I have big dreams for Sweet Southern Oaks in 2020. One thing that 2018 and 2019 both taught me is that life as you know it can change in an instant. So live in the moment and live each day fully with purpose and to be intentional with the people you love most.
To sum it up, I want to live a life that is meaningful and aspire to make everyday one that is the best it possibly can be. Sure there will be hardships in 2020, but to view each season as one with a purpose to grow and learn from and to chose to be intentional within it. Do you pick a word of the year? If so, what is your 2020 word of the year? Happy New Year, friends. This year I hope that whatever you do, you do it with intention too.
