By now you probably know that I’m all about layers when it comes to decor… but this layered mirror mantel is probably my favorite design I’ve created in the house so far! I’m showing you how to create a layered mirror mantel in your home that is perfect for any season.
The best part about this design is that you can create this look for any season. While I have a few pumpkins and amber bottles in this design, other items can easily transition with each season. So let’s learn how to create a layered mirror mantel for the last part of the fall season today. Vintage mirrors are super popular in the home decor world right now. I looked for vintage mirrors at The World’s Longest Yard Sale, but I didn’t find any this year.
I found two mirrors at the thrift store- one was vintage, but the other was not. The frames are similar in color with a gold metallic, mixing the old mirror with the new one adds character. I still needed one more mirror to create a trio for this layered mirror design. That’s when I found that large, thrifted oval picture frame that I turned into a mirror.
How to Create a Layered Mirror Mantel
Place the modern rectangle mirror into the center of the mantel and then add the DIY mirror on the other side. The smaller vintage mirror is placed into the center of the mantel, creating a trio. The mirrors are secured by a small nail, helping to create the layered mirror mantel design. Adding different shapes and sizes of the mirrors is what creates that found and layered look!
Now it is time to add a filler to both sides of the mantel. I bought a few amber bottles at The World’s Longest Yard Sale and I grouped them together on each side. Add a few sprigs of cotton to add height to the mantel. Finally, a couple of velvet pumpkins from the dollar spot of Target completes the look!
Adding Layers and Textures
There are several layers and textures on this mantel, which feels cozy to me. The pumpkins, cotton and glass all add different textures. The mirrors and the arrangement of amber glass bottles adds layers to the design.
A beautiful design from yard sale and thrifted finds! It looks high end because of the mirrors, but I actually didn’t spend much at all to get the look. This design could easily transition into a Christmas or winter design by adding some holly, sprigs of greenery, or winter whites.
Now that you know how to create a layered mirror mantel, will you make one at your home? Do you like the trend of using vintage mirrors in home decor? For me, I love it… and I still have my eyes peeled for more vintage mirrors!
