Enter into my haunted dining room, if you dare…. Because we’re putting together a spooky Halloween tablescape.
I know, it’s literally the week of Halloween. And I’m just now sharing this with you. Late, I know, but you can always pin this for next year. A little boo-tiful planning a year ahead never hurts. 😉
First I started with some black and white netting cheesecloth {creepy cloth} and placed it into the middle of the table. You can find this creepy cheesecloth anywhere this time of the year, but I think mine came from the dollar store. The creepy cloth stretches, so I stretched and pulled and twisted it around until I liked the pattern it made on the table. A Halloween Rae Dunn cake stand went into the middle of the table, then I added other Halloween decor around. I just wanted the table to kind of look festive and spooky; so I pulled out some thrifted skulls and cauldrons. My favorite piece on the table is the Halloween Rae Dunn Boo pumpkin.
I like to add various height and layers to my tablescapes. The black lanterns and cake stand add the most height to this tablescape, drawing the eye up. Then the focal pieces of the Rae Dunn pumpkin and thrifted skulls add to the spooky Halloween tablescape. There’s lots of textures going on here from the creepy cloth and polyfil inside of the mini cauldrons, which adds a cozy touch.
The black plates I borrowed from my parents for my Halloween tablescape – but you can check local thrift stores or dollar stores for black plates. I’ve seen them there before! On top of the black plates I added the Rae Dunn cauldron plates. I only had two, but I made them work for the tablescape.
Mr. Sweet Southern Oaks found those Halloween plates for me while he was stationed at a temporary duty assignment. Oh the Rae Dunn he found for me while he was there! I believe that he secretly likes to hunt for Rae Dunn, too. Anywho, back to the spooky Halloween tablescape…
These cute mini cauldrons I got from the dollar section at Target. I had some left over polyfil that I used to create the steam or smoke inside of the witch’s cauldron. I placed a cauldron on each tablesetting to add the final fun touch to this spooky Halloween tablescape. The only thing that is missing is some black candles, but I didn’t have any of those to use on the tablescape this time.
The mini witch hats and the bats are strung with fishing line on top of the branches. I used a hole punch on the bats to thread the fishing line through and hot glued fishing line to the witch hats. Basically it’s the same technique that I used for the falling leaf branch installation on my jewel tone fall tablescape. I kind of wanted to add more bats and hats, but that’s another idea for next year I suppose.
We’re going to pass out candy again to all of the trick or treaters. Our house is considered the “cool house” on the block because we decorated our porch with Halloween lights and installed this giant spiderweb in the corner of the porch. You might have seen that over on Instagram already.
So, we’ve stocked up on the good candy…because the cool house has to give out good candy, right!?! Wishing you all a safe and Happy Halloween!
