Fall is officially here and it’s my favorite time of the year! So that means it’s time for us to put together a new tablescape for the season! Not just any ol’ tablescape though – we are putting together a jewel tone fall tablescape using warmer colors and lots of texture.
This fall I’m pushing the envelope and doing things a little different. I’m envisioning more of a Bohemian fall themed vibe around the house with jewel tones and pops of metallic! Don’t worry, I’ll still share neutral fall farmhouse decor on Instagram and maybe a post on the blog this season. But for now, we’re jumping all in on the jewel tones and let me tell you… I’m crushing hard on all this gorgeous color!

Jewel Tone Fall Tablescape Plan
The first thing I did was create a plan by writing down ideas for the jewel tone tablescape. From the color palette, to texture and layer ideas (like incorporating velvet and fall garlands) and possible decor that would be added to the tablescape. From there I drew out a sketch to pull all my ideas together. Don’t forget to check out my fall decorating tips, where I talk a little more in detail about this!

Velvet Teal Tablecloth
The base of the tablescape is this luxurious velvet tablecloth. A little tip when putting together tablescapes, is to check out material from your local craft store and see what catches your eye. You can use the fabric as a tablecloth or use it to add movement and layers to a tablescape. This is actually two yards of teal velvet fabric from Hobby Lobby! I was able to use a 40% off coupon from my phone on the velvet fabric. Originally I planned on draping the velvet material into the center of the table, but it turned out better to be used as a tablecloth. Be open to plans changing a little bit when you are decorating.
Fall Garland Leaf & Branch Installation
For the fall garland and branch installation all you need are branches from your backyard, Command Hooks, fishing line, and a variety of fall leaf garlands that I spray painted copper and gold. Command Hooks were attached to the ceiling of the dining room, then we wrapped the branches with fishing line and hung them from the hooks. The idea is that the branches would be suspended from the air… like a tree branch outside! Thread the fishing line through the ends (the little circle part) of the leaf garlands. Then you will tie the fishing line around the branch for the fall leaf garlands to hang from the branch. I did a similar DIY with the leaf garland branch installation last year, so check that out!
Fall Tablescape Centerpiece
For the centerpiece of the jewel tone fall tablescape, I spray painted a thrifted candelabra copper. It’s the same candelabra I used for Halloween last year, and just repurposed it for new decor! Still incorporating the jewel tones, I used rust/ burnt orange colored candlesticks for the candelabra. No fall tablescape would be complete without some pumpkins; so I added two white pumpkins on either side of the table from the local farmers market. Then I nestled some fall garlands that I spray painted copper around the pumpkins and candelabra.
Layer it Up
Adding layers to any decor adds interest to the eye, but I love to use this trick especially in the fall! I layered each place setting by using copper chargers, mustard dinner plates, fall colored linen napkins and finally a leaf shaped plate on top to complete the layers.
The next thing to add to the jewel tone fall tablescape are the copper chargers that were a fun little DIY. Adding copper is a great way to add some warmer tones to your fall decor. On top of the copper chargers goes the dinner plate. These mustard yellow plates are perfect for fall and I knew I would use them again, so I picked up a pack of these plate from TJ Maxx. Spoiler alert – the yellow plates are actually plastic…. but you can’t tell!
I folded the rust linen napkins in thirds and placed them on top of the mustard yellow plates. The finishing touch are these elegant leaf shaped plates that came from Homegoods that we can use as a salad or dessert plate.
Finally, we placed the gold silverware to each place setting and then I added these vintage goblets with a teal stem to the table.
Now we are ready for a fall dinner party at the Sweet Southern Oaks house! For some reason, these colors make me think of royalty…so let’s have a royal Thanksgiving meal together on this jewel tone fall tablescape! What do you guys think of my fall tablescape this year? I know it’s completely different than the usual, but I’m loving it! Happy Fall, y’all!
