From discarded, mismatched glass vases to an instant collection of one of a kind metallic vases… get the look for less than ten bucks!
I’m teaming up with my friends Jackie and Liz for another fun blog hop. Our theme is a fun one and requires us to think outside of the box and stay on budget: how I would spend $10 at a store of our choosing.
I immediately decided the thrift store would be where I’d spend my ten bucks because that’s a great place to stretch a dollar. Walking down the aisles of the thrift store, I brainstormed ideas to share with you. Then I found a huge section of clear glass vases for 50 cents to a dollar per vase. I picked the glass vases that I liked the shape and style of – no rhyme or reason – just picked what I liked! The best part was that the vases ended up being on sale, so I got them even cheaper than I thought! Woohoo!! With my ten dollars, I bought the vases at the thrift store and the spray paint at the hardware store. I came in right under $10 bucks since the vases were on sale at the thrift store! I already had bought the flowers for another project.
Here’s what the thrifted glass vases looked like before…
…and here they are now!
Transform those outdated, thrifted glass vases into a high end metallic look in less than an hour! The secret is in the spray paint!
These DIY metallic vases that I transformed will make another appearance on the blog soon with a fall tablescape! You guys are going to get a sneak peak at my jewel toned color scheme for the fall season today!
DIY Metallic Vase Supplies:
- Old glass vases
- Metallic Spray Paint (I used: Rust-Oleum Metallic)
DIY Metallic Vases Instructions:
- Clean the glass vases with soap and water, then let them dry completely. You want to make sure you are starting out with a clean surface so the paint can adhere to the glass.
- Lightly spray the glass vases with even strokes. Continue this step until all sides of the vases are coated. Tip: You don’t want to spray the vases with heavy strokes or else the spray paint will start to drip!
- Let the vases dry completely and apply one more light coat of spray paint if needed. I only used one coat of spray paint.
- Once the vases are dry decorate with flowers!
A ten dollar transformation – from thrifted vases to high-end décor. The color possibilities are endless with this easy project! When I get tired of the metallic or want to use another color, all I have to do is spray them with another color of spray paint. So you can be sure that I’ll be changing the color of the vases out pretty often! You probably have some old glass vases around your house that you could use for this project – so what color spray paint would you choose?
