Hey friends! Happy Friday! Today I’m teaming up with Jackie and Liz for the Sweet Moda Project with a patriotic theme to help you get ready for the 4th of July. I’ve got a fun and festive patriotic tablescape to share with you today.
My house sure is festive right now with all the red, white and blue. We’re a military family, so we wave our flag proud to celebrate our great nation. Of course when I decorate, I have to decorate the dining room, too. Tablescapes are so fun to put together, but then we don’t actually eat at the table because I don’t want to mess it up! 😉
Surely I’m not the only one like that…
Ok, so first let’s address the elephant in the room! The window in the dining room is not centered, which means the light fixture and table doesn’t line up, so this room is so hard to photograph. I’m all about clean lines, and this is one thing that bothers me every time I photograph this room…but here we are!
Let’s put together our festive patriotic tablescape!
Using a solid color for the tablecloth allows for you to play with color and texture in the plates, napkins and other decor on the table. Next, add a patriotic runner in the middle of the table. Into the center of the table, I placed a three- tier cupcake stand, lining it up with the chandelier. We will come back and finish decorating this part later.
Now it’s time to add the chargers. I went with these cool galvanized chargers. I know you’ve seen them before, but the scalloped edges and detail are perfect for this patriotic tablescape. Plus, y’all know I like to shop my house before going out to buy things when I’m decorating.
Thrifted red plates are placed on top of each charger; and to create another layer on the setting, we will add the smaller dessert plate. For the napkins, I rolled patriotic bandannas up and tied them with a piece of ribbon. Place the napkins into the center of each plate and add the silverware.
For the patriotic tablescape I filled Mason jars with lemonade and patriotic straws. You could slice up a lemon to add to each glass to look pretty… but I forgot to do that for the shoot.
We’re almost done putting together our patriotic tablescape. We just need to decorate the middle of the table now! I stacked the red bowls inside of my patriotic Rae Dunn bowls, then filled them with strawberries and blueberries. The patriotic Rae Dunn flag pitcher has to go on the table to refresh those lemonade glasses!
Finally, patriotic cupcakes and cookies are placed around the three tiered cupcake stand. I used some patriotic cupcake liners for the cookies, giving it an extra festive touch! After all, this is a patriotic tablescape, so it needs to be festive!
Now I’m ready for the 4th of July. Which is good, because the family nominated my house as the host to grill out the weekend after the fourth! That’s fine be me, because I like to entertain! They’ve already requested this Sriracha Peach Barbecue Sauce, so of course I’ll make it for them!

I really love all of the layering of the dishes here Ashlee. Using what you have and mixing it up can change the look every time. Just beautiful, as always.

It definitely can! Thanks so much, Jackie!

That would make me crazy with dining room window too! I’m still just loving that tiered white tray though!

Right! Thanks! I think that came from Hobby Lobby!
