I’m teaming up again with my friends at the Sweet Moda Blog Project and this week our theme is plants. So while my plants were thriving and looking pretty, I had to snap some pictures and reveal my patriotic porch to you!
Plant Lady?
It’s no secret that I have a black thumb, but so far this summer I’m a plant lady, y’all! Now, don’t ask me about the names of any of these plants…. or for any gardening advice. Because for that, I have none! 😉 I just bought what looked pretty and were in the patriotic colors I was looking for.
See? All the pretty plants!
All the pretty plants that I’ve managed to keep alive for two weeks so far this summer! Yay, me! I’m becoming a plant lady.
I don’t have much to talk about with you when it comes to plants. However, I can chat awhile about decorating my patriotic porch for the summer and how I put it all together. I love to decorate my front porch for the different seasons and I think the patriotic porch is the cutest!
Patriotic Porch Decor From Thrifted + Yard Sale Finds
Y’all know I have this thing for architectural salvage and this gorgeous, chippy aqua door is a pickin’ find! I finally found a place for this vintage door – my front porch!
The vintage door is placed in the corner of the porch and then I added an old American flag on top of the door. This adorable red wagon is another thrifted find and I decided to use it as a flower bed for the summer. I just filled it up with soil and planted the flowers inside of the wagon.
Next, I added some patriotic pillows to the swing I painted last summer. These pillows came from Wal-Mart for $5 bucks! I sprayed some Scotch Guard on them to protect them from the outdoor elements.
In the other corner is this cute old chair I got at The World’s Longest Yard Sale several years ago. I stacked two pots together and put a fern on top. I do get a lot of questions about my front door color – it’s Sherwin Williams Decisive Yellow. {It’s a brighter yellow than the picture portrays – it’s just the way it was edited.)
Then I have two window baskets that I filled with ivy, red and white flowers. Now to be honest with you, my ivy is trying to die (a few friends on IG gave me some recommendations, so I’m going to try those!) I placed a fern in the birdbath and the wagon is from our wedding and I added a fern there.
Love ferns! Ok please tell me you know what movie that line is from! 😉 See my gorgeous ferns – I know what they’re called!
That’s my patriotic porch and plant tour! I’m ready for some front porch sittin’ and outdoor entertaining!

Ashlee- great job on your porch! Ferns are amazing and should last all season if you keep them moist. My tip to you 😉 Using the wagon for your white petunias was a great idea! And I love those star pillows

Thank you so much for the tip, Jackie! I’m going to try and keep them alive during the hot Alabama summer! 🙂
