Did I scare you away yet with my secret Monica Closet?! I hope not, because I’ve got big plans for this room! From unorganized, choatic clutter to a fresh, clean and organized farmhouse style guest bedroom is the plan!
$100 Room Challenge: Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4 | Week 5
With any big project, I like to start out with a solid plan. Decide what your vision is and then shop for materials to make sure you stick to your budget. My vision is a farmhouse style guest bedroom with shiplap and vintage decor with pops of black and gray. I’ve got lots of vintage goodies that are hiding in my Monica Closet, which I plan on using to stay on budget for this farmhouse style guest bedroom.
I’ve created a vision board so I can see if all the ideas bouncing around in my head work together for this farmhouse style guest bedroom. I highly suggest to create a vision board to help you envision a space before starting a project. You can pull ideas from magazines, Pinterest, blogs or Instagram.

Closet | Shiplap | Gray Comforter
Here are my plans for the Monica Closet:
- Clean out and organize the room
- Create an area to organize and easily access all of my home decor items inside of the actual closet by using baskets and containers I already have
- Paint the walls, trim and closet doors
- Shiplap one focal wall in the room (Possibly!)
- For the bed, I’ll use a vintage headboard that my grandmother gave me with a light gray comforter that I already have
- Use decor and items found while cleaning out the closet to decorate the room

Ashlee, I can’t wait to see how you organize all of your treasures. I have the same problem, except the “closet” is my entire basement. I definitely need some inspiration!

Hey Rebecca! My Monica Closet was an entire room because we don’t have a basement! I’m still working on trying to get everything organized! I love to go pickin’ way to much and have so many treasures! 🙂

Great vision board! I’m sure it’s going to pretty.
