Halloween is this week! Are you ready for the trick or treaters and the unofficial start to the holiday season? I’m a little late sharing my Halloween mantel, but hey, better late than never. Right?!
You probably remember my DIY Thrifted Spooky Candelabra that I posted a few days ago. This was what my mantel needed and I loved how it turned out! To put this Halloween mantel together, I mainly used items I had in my box of seasonal decor.
Putting the Halloween Mantel Together
First, I pulled out the orange Halloween lights and draped them across the mantel. Next came the black cheesecloth that I draped up the wall of the mantel to give a little dimension. I added the witch wreath to the middle of the mantel and hung it on a nail that was already there. The next thing to do was to place the various Halloween decorations I had around the mantel. A thrifted skull, the thrifted DIY candelabra and the pumpkin lanterns were things I already had. For additional height, I used stacked books and mini cake stands for some of the items. Finally, just keep working with your decor and move things around until you like the design. I added a couple of pumpkins around the decorations and called my spooky Halloween mantel done!
Where are the best places to look for inexpensive Halloween Decor?
Thrift stores and even dollar stores are a great place to look for Halloween decor if you don’t want to spend a lot of money. My local thrift store had a ton of Halloween decor when I went earlier this month!
Other Ideas for Using Halloween Decor
Even if you don’t want to go all out with Halloween decor, you could always just add a touch of it. For example, a skull could go inside of a cake stand or on top of a stack of books. You could drape some cheesecloth on a coffee table and add some pumpkins. You could fill a basket with pumpkins and add a spider ring on top. Or add some spider webbing from the dollar store on a window or cabinet. A little touch of decor can still get you in the holiday spirit!
That’s my Halloween mantel! Now I’m in the mood to watch Hocus Pocus…and I just so happen to have a few ideas for your Hocus Pocus family night! Check out a Hocus Pocus Tablescape and a Hocus Pocus Family Night with fun themed food!
As you can see Halloween decor doesn’t have to be scary. I don’t like the creepy, scary Halloween decor and I don’t want my decor to scare a kid that knocks on my door for candy… or you know, Lila Blue! 😉 Happy Halloween!
