I had a thrifted candelabra at my house and I knew it could make the perfect Halloween decor with a little spray paint. This project literally cost me a dollar to make! I already had a can of black spray paint and I’ve had this thrifted candelabra for years. I found these mini skulls at the dollar store and I knew instantly what I was going to make with them. Let’s create a spooky Halloween candelabra!
I don’t do scary Halloween decor. This DIY spooky candelabra is the perfect amount of spooky…but not scary! Although, Lila Blue did bark at the skulls when they first came out! Halloween decor she’s not a fan of, but she’s accepted the spooky candelabra!
Spooky Halloween Candelabra Materials:
- Candelabra: Thrift stores are a great place to search for candelabras. You may even have one tucked in storage somewhere!
- Black Spray Paint: I used Rustoleum Flat Matte Black that I already had.
- Mini Skulls or any other other miniature Halloween decor: The dollar store is a great place to look for cheap decor!
- Old Rag
DIY Spooky Halloween Candelabra Instructions:
Step One: Wipe down the candelabra to remove any dust. You want to make sure you have a smooth surface so the paint will adhere to the candelabra.
Step Two: Lightly spray the candelabra with spray paint, being careful not to get any drips. Let the candelabra dry completely.
Step Three: Place the miniature Halloween decorations on top of the candelabra. I didn’t need any hot glue to make them stay in place. You could hot glue the Halloween decorations onto the candelabra if you wanted to, but I wanted to be able to use the candelabra later. I added a candle for extra height and called it done.
From a thrifted candelabra to cute, spooky Halloween decor for my mantel! I love a good DIY project out of thrift store finds. If I decide I want to use the spooky Halloween candelabra later for another use I can always remove the decorations and spray paint it another color! Winning! Easy DIY projects that are easy to change out when the seasons change or when I get an idea to do something different are my favorite kind.

Thanks, Jackie! You’re right, it does make decorating on a budget easier. I like when I can repurpose an item and then change it up again for another holiday! 🙂
