I think it’s safe to say that you guys love the freshly painted front porch swing and it’s happy, summer yellow pillows! It’s been a few weeks and I still get comments and messages about the porch on Instagram! I guess it was a hit 🙂 and I’m so happy y’all love it as much as I do! One question I get asked a lot from that post is recommendations on how to keep outdoor pillows clean.
The yellow pillows are such a happy and pretty color and I definitely didn’t want them to get old and faded as soon as I put them outside. With the unpredictable Alabama weather, I definitely don’t want to have to run outside and bring my pillows in everytime it rains! Ain’t nobody got time for that! These tips on how to keep outdoor pillows clean might work for you.
I bought Scotchgard Heavy Duty Water Shield, which I evenly sprayed on all sides of the pillows. You can find Scotchgard at any craft or home improvement store. I bought mine from Wal-Mart and found it over in the area with the material for about $5.00. By the way, this is not a sponsored post.
I’ll brush off any debris that has blown onto the swing then I spot clean my pillows with water and a little white vinegar. After a heavy rain, I reapply the Scotchgard, which helps protect the outdoor pillows from rain and dew. I would also recommend to reapply the Scotchgard at least once a month to your outdoor pillows to keep them looking fresh.
Now, I’ve only had my pillows outside for a few months, but so far they have held up well from the elements. We’ve had a quite a few summer storms and a lot of sunshine. So far the outdoor pillows have stayed fresh and clean.
How to Keep Outdoor Pillows Clean
- Spot clean pillows with water and white vinegar
- Apply Scotchguard Heavy Duty Water Shield at least once a month to pillows
