St. Patrick’s Day will be here soon and these delicious, gooey shamrock rice krispie treats are the perfect way to celebrate with the kiddos.
Don’t tell, but there’s a secret ingredient I put in these shamrock rice krispie treats to get the little specks of vibrant green! There are many versions of these treats are all over the internet now, but I’ve been making these for several years with one secret ingredient. Shamrock rice krispie treats are little squares of soft, gooey deliciousness!
Shamrock Rice Krispie Treats Ingredients:
- 3-4 cups Lucky Charms (I used the limited edition St. Patrick’s Day cereal with the shamrock marshmallows) *This is not a sponsored post.
- 1/2 bag of marshmallows
- Secret Ingredient: 1 carton GREEN Peeps
- 1/2 tsp of Vanilla Extract
- 1 tablespoon butter
Shamrock Rice Krispie Treat Directions:
- Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat.
- Once butter has started to brown, add in the marshmallows and vanilla extract. Stir occasionally while the marshmallows melt.
- Add in the secret ingredient, green Peeps, and stir into the melted marshmallows. As the Peeps melt, you’ll see little swirls of green in the marshmallow combination.
- Remove the pot from the stove and pour the Lucky Charms cereal over the melted marshmallows.
- Stir all ingredients together until combined and place into a buttered baking dish to set.
- Cut into squares and enjoy!
