Marble Painted Ornaments

I love the marble look that is taking over home décor, so I decided to make marble painted ornaments for Christmas!

These marble painted ornaments are a cheap and easy project you can do with the kids this Christmas and make the perfect homemade gift for friends and family.  I just love the marble look paired with my copper Christmas tree.

Materials Used:

1. 1 Box of Ornaments
2. 3 Different Paint Colors (I used Apple Barrel Paints in Granite Gray, China Blue and White )
3. Primer (I used Krylon Color Master White Primer) *This is not a sponsored post.
4. Toothpick or Wooden Skewer
5. Old Bowl or Disposable Baking Pan that is deep enough for the ornaments (TIP: I started out with a bowl but decided it was easier to roll the ornaments using a disposable baking pan)
6. Ornament Hooks

Directions:

1. Pop the metal topper of the ornament off and lay all of the ornaments out to prime. Tip: It will help to place all of the ornaments in an egg carton (or even the tray the ornaments come in) to keep them from rolling around while you are priming them.  Learn from my mistake!
2. In a thin layer, evenly spray all sides of the ornament with primer and let it dry.  The primer is going to help the paint adhere to the ornaments.  You could also buy the clear ornaments, but I used some ornaments I bought on clearance after Christmas last year.
3. Place the metal topper of the ornament back on and add the ornament hook.  This will make it easier to roll the ornaments in the paint.
4. In a shallow bowl, prepare the paints.  Slowly drip the paints into the bowl from darkest to lightest.
5. Using a toothpick or skewer, gently create a swirling motion to make a pattern with the paints.
6. Hold the ornament from the metal topper (it helps to hold onto the ornament hook) and dip the ornament into the paint.
7. Carefully pull it back up and let the paint dry.  I placed mine on a hanger and let them drip dry over night.

I love how each ornament looks so different!

Even though I used the same technique and paint colors for each, they all turned out so unique!
