Thanksgiving is near, and it’s time to start the preparations for the holiday! I’ve got an elegant but easy DIY project that will take you less than an hour to create for your Thanksgiving feast.
All you need are some pumpkins (real or faux), harvest leaf garland and some spray paint to complete this project. If you use faux pumpkins, I’d recommend that you prime them first (this step is optional). You can find out why you should prime the faux pumpkins here. By the way, this is not a sponsored post.
Materials for the Pumpkins & Harvest Garland:
- Pumpkins (real or faux)
- Harvest Garland (4-5 strands)
- Spray Paint (I used Krylon Metallic Gold)
- Painters Tape
Gold Pumpkin Directions:
- Tape the stems of the pumpkins with painters tape.
- Prime the pumpkins.
- Evenly spray the pumpkins, starting from the top and work your way down. Let them dry.
- Flip the pumpkins over (stem side down) to spray the bottom. Spray a second coat of spray paint and let dry. (The spray paint dries quickly).
Harvest Garland Directions:
- Spread the harvest garland out into a row.
- Evenly spray the harvest garland with the spray paint. I only sprayed one coat of paint onto the harvest garland. (I liked how some of the original colors were peaking through). You can spray two coats if you want the paint to cover completely. Let it dry.
- Decorate your table with your freshly painted pumpkins and harvest garland!
Next time on the blog we will set the table for an elegant gold Thanksgiving meal. If you feel inspired to create your own harvest gold pumpkins and garland, I’d love to see your finished product! Use the hashtag #southernoaksblog on Instagram or find me on Facebook!
