If you’re looking for some fall fun pumpkin picking this weekend, I have the perfect place in mind for you!
A trip out to Old Baker Farm in Harpersville, Alabama for pumpkin picking is a MUST this season! Old Baker Farm has their very own pumpkin patch! You pick your favorite pumpkin in the patch and you can even cut it off the vine! This place made my pumpkin loving heart so happy. I’m not sure how I was late to the game in finding out about Old Baker Farm, but it instantly became a fall family tradition! This is not a sponsored post.
In addition to the fun pumpkin patch, there are fields of sunflowers taller than me, cotton fields, a petting zoo and a show! It truly is fun for the whole family. The historic home on the farm… yep, I loved the beautiful farmhouse! Future house goals right there!
What to Bring:
- CASH: Admission to get into the farm is $10.00 per person and $2.00 for children 2 and under. The pumpkin is included in the admission cost. They will not take credit cards. Cash is king.
- GLOVES: Bring gloves to pick up pumpkins, remove dirt, and protect your hands.
- KNIFE: Bring a knife to cut your pumpkin off the vine. {If you go later in the season, most of the pumpkins will probably have been cut off the vine though.}
- BOOTS: Remember you’ll be at a working farm, and you’ll want to wear boots or shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. No heels or flip flops on this trip!
- SUNSCREEN/ HAT/ SUNGLASSES: Even though it’s fall, it’s still hot in Alabama! You’ll be outside on the farm, so put on some sunscreen to protect your skin and don’t forget a hat.
What to Do:
- HAYRIDE: You’ll take a short hayride to the pumpkin patch, sunflower and cotton fields. Here you’ll get a panoramic view of the gorgeous farm and the land!
- PUMPKIN PICKING: This is the fun part! You have your pick of all the pumpkins in the patch. We walked around and picked up sooooo many pumpkins! It was hard to narrow down our choice. If you even *think* it might be the perfect pumpkin, pick it up, just in case while you narrow down your choices! Remember, your pumpkin comes with the price of admission. You don’t have to tote your pumpkin around the farm. *For a small donation, they will take your pumpkin and you pick it up when you leave the farm–they’ll even load it for you! {The donation goes to missions, which is a great cause!}*
- SUNFLOWER FIELDS: Y’all! The sunflowers were just gorgeous! They were taller than me! You can pick the sunflowers to bring home with you! The sunflowers were $1.00 each.
- COTTON FIELDS: You can pick the cotton for .25 cents a bundle. Imagine all of the possibilities of projects you can do with the cotton!
- PETTING ZOO: There is a gorgeous barn of farm animals! You can walk through the barn and see all of the animals. There are goats {and babies!}, rabbits, chickens, and ducks just to name a few.
- CORN MAZE: Get lost in a corn maze and figure your way back out! Most kids would think the maze was so fun! I have this silly, irrational fear of corn mazes though… like, knowing I’m going to intentionally get lost in the corn maze scares me! I know, strange fear!
What to Eat and Drink:
- BILL’S LEMONADE: The lemonade quenched our thirst and was the perfect mix of a sweet and citric taste. It’s $5.00, but believe me it’s totally worth it!
- CARAMEL & CHEDDAR POPCORN: Hubby got the big bag of this stuff and he really liked it. He’s a foodie, so take his advice!
- BBQ SANDWICH: We had already eaten lunch, so we didn’t try the BBQ, but everyone says it’s the best! Next time we’ll definitely give it a try!
We all found the fairytale “Cinderella” pumpkins to take home with us; and I have to say they are my favorite pumpkins of the season! It was hard for us to narrow down what we were going to take home; so whoever found the pumpkins we left behind definitely hit the jackpot!
Have you ever been to Old Baker Farm? It’s a new fall favorite, and one that the whole family will enjoy! Go start a new fall tradition today at Old Baker Farm!
