Picking out a color scheme for your entire home can be tricky! I remember being so overwhelmed at all the paint color swatches.. I mean, how many shades of blues and greys could there possibly be? Ummm… way to many!
I knew I wanted our home to be light and bright with soothing shades of greys, blues and whites. I searched Pinterest and Instagram for inspiration, and I continuously pinned Sherwin Williams Agreeable Grey and Sherwin Williams Sea Salt for paint colors. When I discovered that my eye was drawn to those colors, it was time to buy the samples. I have to make sure I’m in love with the color before I commit, and by that I mean paint all the walls with the color. The last thing you want is to absolutely hate the color!
Tip: always spend the $3 bucks and buy the paint samples before committing to a color.
Paint a large swatch on the walls, and take a few days to make sure you absolutely love the color at different times of the day. Paint colors can look different during specific times of the day, so always take that into consideration before committing to a color.
I took a chance and bought one more sample color, Sherwin Williams Repose Grey. I’m so glad I bought the sample because I fell in love with the color and knew it was going to be one of the colors in my house. The Repose Grey is one shade darker than Agreeable Grey, but still has a soft feeling. This is not a sponsored post.
Tip: Always trust your instinct on color samples! If you’re not set on a color, then it’s not the right color for you!
Ya know though…any color was going to be better than poop brown walls in our bedrooms!
Here are my house colors:
It took several trips to the hardware store before I finalized my decision on the paint colors. It takes time to update your house. One of the cheapest ways to make a drastic transformation is with paint. That’s the power of paint, y’all. Paint can make a small room feel larger, feel welcoming and can drastically change the feeling of your space. If you don’t have a big budget, start with paint!
